Myth on Stereotype

On the web or in the real life, we find commercial slogans using “Re” : reprint, re-fabricate and other things considered to be replicas of the original. It seems that everything can be re-made, particularly those things that had been considered as vintage models.

What does the “replicate” mean? Replication is the product re-produced from an original. A replicated product must comply with any intellectual property rights otherwise it may immediately encounter legal action.

Recently I found many vintage furniture pieces sold on the web and even appearing in the furniture malls. I once consulted with someone who sells “replicated products” and he told me their products are not “counterfeit” or ”fake” but rather they are all “replicates”. I still have big puzzlement over what is the difference between a “counterfeit and” replicate”. I think they are playing on some confusion and on the edge of illegality.
